Google Maps Now Offers Street View From Mt. Everest !!!!!

Taking the Street View service a step further, Google has now added some of the highest peaks in the world including Mt. Everest, Kilimanjaro, etc. to Google Maps Street View. In it’s official blog, Google announced the addition of Aconcagua in South America, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Elbrus in Europe, and Mount Everest base camp in Nepal, which are some of the highest peaks in the world to it’s Street View service. The peaks belong to the famous Seven Summits, which is an exclusive collection of the highest peaks on each continent.
In a blog post, Google adventurer Dan Fredinburg said,
Whether you’re scoping out the mountain for your next big adventure or exploring it from the comfort and warmth of your home, we hope you enjoy these views from the top of the world.

With Google Maps, you can instantly transport yourself to the top of these peaks and enjoy the sights without all the avalanches, rock slides, crevasses, and dangers from altitude and weather that mountaineers face.

According to Google, the stunning images available on the Google maps Street View were taken from a simple digital camera with a fisheye lens, mounted on a lightweight tripod to take a 360 degree view. If you wish to view the images, you can simply type-in the location on the Google Maps service and take a look at the images of the mountains taken from several locations.
